Re Sarah Clayton's letter on March 15, complaining about the Channel 4 global warming documentary - I found the arguments in it were no less plausible than any others I've heard.
She said "most of the arguments in the programme were partial, distorted and sometimes plain wrong," but didn't even give one example. Without access to the scientific data she has no right to pass judgement. The very fact she is a member of a group "working on climate change in the borough", as if such a thing were possible, destroys her own credibility.
She says "There is no longer a debate about climate change" - I say there is.
The questions still are "Is climate change going one way?" and "Can we stop it?". Just because large numbers of people believe the answers are yes and yes doesn't mean they're right.
Most of us have to rely on hearsay because programme makers think scientific arguments are too difficult for us.
I do agree with her that to make a real difference to climate, dramatic changes would have to be made. But what we should do is far from clear.
