What a thoroughly unpleasant and uncalled for letter from Julie Morris in your letters page last week. Her very personal attack on Residents' Association Councillor Natalie Rogers, who has clearly worked hard with our local MP, trade unionists and Labour Party councillors to put the case for Epsom General Hospital, is another example of the Liberal Democrats' personalisation of local politics.

Natalie Rogers only crime' appears to be that she has kept the campaign to save maternity and other key services in the public eye, much to the evident annoyance of Julie Morris, that well known self-publicist.

The Liberal Democrats in Epsom and Ewell have visibly done very little to represent the views and concerns of residents in the borough on the subject of the hospital and have arguably long since given up campaigning to save our hospital.

Instead they prefer to carp and criticise those who are still willing to continue the fight, and coincidentally, do this only weeks before the local election in May. If they had been as proactive as Coun Rogers has been they would not need to reduce their communication to residents on the subject to the low level that ensued.
