During the 2006 Council Election campaign, the Kingston Conservative leader said that "It is clear we do need to tackle the problem of council tax and stop blaming the Government when some spending is clearly within the council's power."
He was referring to the Government's grants paid to Kingston council.
Recently the Deputy Conservative leader of Wandsworthexplaining the council tax rise said it was "unavoidable due to a big squeeze' resulting from a reduced government grant".
So Wandsworth Tories blame the Government, whilst Kingston Tories said don't blame the Government. Who is telling the truth?
Perhaps both are, in a New Labour fashion. So we can look forward to many more years of fair Government grants for Kingston while Conservatives and Labour play ping-pong with our money.
