The Warehouse Theatre has announced it is to remain open, despite having its funding cut by the council.
Staff at the Dingwall Road venue said they have successfully adjusted to life without their annual £120,000 town hall subsidy.
They are now making plans for the future and preparing for a season of performances to celebrate the theatre's 30th anniversary.
Artistic director Ted Craig said: "We had to make three people redundant, which was not nice, but we are working on a five-year business plan that will see us through this.
"We are not going to close. What happened was a huge blow and we still believe it was a political move."
Mr Craig is also confident the protracted row over the Gateway development will not affect the Warehouse.
