A man armed with a knife has surrendered to police after an hour-long siege in Sutton.
Armed police were put on alert in Poulton Avenue around 6pm as officers negotiated with the man inside a house.
Peak hour traffic in the area including Gassiot Way was held up, leading to delays for motorists before the man surrendered around 7pm.
A Met Police spokeswoman said the man arrested had been alone in the house and no one was injured.
She said armed police had attended the incident as a precaution.
