With reference to the anti-social behaviour in North Cheam and in particular in response to the hot off the web' letter from local resident and mother of teenagers in North Cheam.

I live very close to Fairlands Park in North Cheam and have personally spoken to many teenagers that congregate there of an evening. Many of them come from outside of the area and some much further away.

They say the park has a reputation as a place to meet especially on a Friday night. We know that parents regularly drop off and pick up their little angels.

When asked about it they say at least they know where they are!' Do they know about the regular drinking, fighting, destruction of local property and generally intimidating and antisocial behaviour that the residents and shopkeepers have to put up with.

We have written numerous letters and requested that this yob magnet' park be closed off at night. Council says - cannot afford it. Police say - best solution for all concerned and back us all the way.

It costs so much more to police the area and deal with all the problems it causes. I love our little park and use it regularly but recognise that to bring peace to our area we must close it off at night and dispel the reputation it has gained.

Sutton Council must put our very high council tax to good use for the sake of its residents. It somehow seems to find the cash to go around painting bicycle pictures on our roads which nobody wants.
