It was sad to read the letter on March 8 from someone who had been searching for counselling support following the death of their father. I, too, was dismayed that the bereavement service for Sutton and Merton will have to close down at the end of March this year.
As director of Sutton Counselling, I would like your readers to know that we provide support for a wide range of needs. The bereavement service was already referring people on to us, and we have trained several of our experienced counsellors to help the bereaved. We are able and willing to help, though we do have to cover our costs by contributions from clients. Call 8661 7869 for more information.
The possible closure of Open Door Youth Counselling Service is a more serious concern as Sutton Counselling can only see 18s and over. I hope very much that Open Door will be able to survive and will still be there in a year's time.
