Dawn Lane, 27, is on the right track for helping the Kingston Can campaign.

She is two months into her training for the London Marathon and regularly runs along the Kingston riverside in preparation for the event on April 22.

She got involved with fundraising when she was working in the personnel department at Kingston Hospital and now works at Kingston University, but is still keen to get involved with fundraising for the hospital's cancer unit.

With the London Marathon just six weeks away, Dawn is in full swing with her training, having worked her way up from four-mile runs to 14-mile runs.

"It has been difficult because of the cold weather, but the evenings are getting lighter now so it's getting better," she said.

This year will be her second time running the marathon - she finished her first one in four-and- a-half hours.

Dawn is also taking advantage of her surroundings, running every day from her office by Kingston riverside to her home in Worcester Park and using Richmond Park for training at the weekends.

She said: "It feels very safe running there but it's a bit muddy at the moment and I keep on getting stuck in the mud!"

And what does she think about during her long runs?

"I'm usually thinking about what I'm going to have to eat after the run, but on the day the atmosphere will get me through," she said.
