I can't believe the shortsightness of the Sutton and Merton PCT in not maintaining a specialist, up-and-running, efficient, much needed bereavement service for the cost of £36,000.

Bereaved people require individual help when they request it, from a specialist counsellor.

They do not need to become another statistic waiting for psychotherapy from an already stretched service, to be delivered by someone dealing with mental health issues.

Untreated bereavement issues can lead to family problems, personal problems and work problems. These issues can be effectively avoided or treated with specialist counselling.

This service is already established and working well.

This seems another example of "blow what's best, we'll deliver what we want, how we want and where we want".

So much for Better Health Closer To Home.
