A week or two ago, my daughter and I went to Cannon Hill Common which is our local park.
I thought I saw what looked like a dead heron floating in the pond. I wondered how it had died as I had already seen an incredible amount of rubbish and wondered if the wildlife was affected by it. I also wondered what was happening to the pavilion.
Last Saturday we visited the Grove in Carshalton. There is an extensive play area, a cafe, mini golf and a lovely park and ponds.
I didn't see the amount of rubbish that I saw at Cannon Hill.
Last Sunday we went to Cannon Hill again and I looked to see if the rubbish had gone. It hadn't. We love the common and Merton boasts some lovely open spaces. Why has Sutton borough got it's act together? If any residents know of a clear up day we'll come and help for the sake of the wildlife. But should it be a resident's job?
