Councillors give £1,000 community grant for Stanwell North.

Most residents know that each councillors controls £1,000 per annum, which can be used on projects that are for the good of all ward residents of the ward.

Your councillors for Stanwell North have allocated their community grant for 2006 as follows: p £1,000 towards provision of the services of a youth worker for Stanwell and I believe your county councillor who is 10 times higher funded, has also contributed.

p £2,000 towards the provision of a disabled toilet for Stanwell Moor Village Hall. They will be unable to operate without a disabled toilet. Normally we would like to use this funding on a variety of smaller projects and would appreciate any ideas Stanwell North residents may have.

You councillors were looking at the War Memorial in Stanwell Village, which needs repair and found that the War Memorials Trust has a system of listing war memorials throughout the country and Stanwell has been listed. This listing has no drawings and we would appreciate a copy being sent to Dave Phillips of Spelthorne Borough Council if anyone knows where they are located.

War Memorials Trust also grants up to half of the cost of refurbishment and your local councillors have asked Spelthorne Borough Council to apply for Stanwell and Ashford War Memorials.

Ashford is a much bigger job than Stanwell and may need removal to complete the work.

The War Memorials Trust will make their decision in April 2007.

If all goes well we expect the work to be completed in Stanwell before the judging of Stanwell's entry in South East in Bloom.

We have confidence Stanwell's Women's Institute will be as successful with this entry as they have been in the past.
