A Chessington family has become the borough's first to be evicted because of the yobbish antics of their children.

Possession of cannabis, causing a nuisance, intimidating neighbours and shopkeepers and assault were all given as reasons to Kingston County Court last week for Susan Morgan and her sons Ashley, 21, and Jordan Brogden, 16, to leave the area.

Presiding Judge Morgan banned Ashley from entering the KT9 area of Chessington for two years and also upheld the family's eviction from their home in Holmwood Road, Chessington - although Ashley is currently residing at Her Majesty's pleasure. When he was brought up from the cells, Ashley brazenly insulted the security officer in court.

Judge Morgan said: "I do not agree that the Asbo against Ashley alone can be relied upon to protect the community.

"He has breached orders on many occassions. I am satisfied that I should reject the application to suspend the eviction warrant."

Susan Morgan, 40, a single mum who has battled drug and alcohol problems, said she was powerless to stop her sons' behaviour. "I can't change it," she said. "I have never condoned it and never supported it.

"To draw a line under it, I would like to apologise to all the residents of the Chessington Park Estate."

She added that many boys had no positive male role models. "I do not hear anybody say they are going to support these boys," she said. "These boys are running around in packs and that is how they are learning to grow up and become men."

She said at times it felt like the council was not offering any advice as to how she could sort her children out.
