I also had a similar story to the man whose Ferrari was clamped (Ferrari furore at fine, Croydon Guardian, February 28).
I pay £140 a quarter for a parking space behind my company in East Croydon. I have a permit which had fallen into the foot well and was not on show in the window, but was visible in the car.
The car park attendant pointed this out to the clampers, but because it was not stuck in the window they clamped my car and I had to pay a £125 on-the-spot fine.
I contacted the managing agent of the car park who had proof I had paid to park in the space. They contacted the clamping company for me but they would not budge. It is absolutely criminal that you can prove that you have paid for the space and still have to pay the fine.
