Who sets, oversees and monitors the way Croydon Council is run?

On a number of occasions recently I have been in touch with both Croydon councillors and senior council officers and noticed from their responses that our elected councillors from the current Conservative administration are unwilling or frightened to call senior officers to account for problems that have occurred within their departments.

Isn't it about time all our elected councillors indicated to the electorate that the final decisions on the way forward to a more effective and democratic Croydon is for them to be seen to act more decisively on matters that are brought to their attention?

Having discussed these concerns with friends, colleagues and acquaintances, it is apparent to me that there is a groundswell of others who feel the same way.
