A Twickenham man has admitted taking indecent photos of children on his mobile phone in the Primark store in Kingston last year.

Duncan Stewart, 38, from Church Street, pleaded guilty at Kingston Crown Court on Monday to 10 counts of taking indecent video clips on his mobile phone up girls' skirts in the clothes store in Eden Street on June 2 and June 4 last year. He also pleaded guilty to possessing 25 indecent photographs of children.

On June 4, complaints were made in the Primark store about the behaviour of Stewart and he was arrested by police. When police later searched his home in Twickenham, they found 25 further indecent photos of children.

Alexander Wright, defence counsel, said that all photos taken by Stewart were level one offences. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, pornographic images are categorised by levels of of content, with level five photos the most serious. Level one photos depict erotic posing with no sexual activity.

According to a press officer from Twickenham Police, Stewart was convicted of four counts of "the same type of offence" in 2003 and jailed for three years. He also has two previous convictions for drink driving.

Stewart, who arrived at court accompanied by a male friend and wearing a black trenchcoat, was released on conditional bail. He will reappear at Kingston Crown Court on March 12 for a pre-sentence report hearing.
