Support workers, cooks, cleaners, midday support, teaching assistants and carer takers were giving a suprise from pupils at Devonshire Primary School who handed out cards saying 'thank you' for the work the staff do.
The 60-strong support network were told to attend the Friday November 28 assembly as 'it was a special presentation about behaviour'.
It was not until the assembly started that staff learned they were to be the stars of the show.
Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Burstow was invited by head teacher Martin Kearsey as a special guest to the assembly.
Mr Burstow said: "It's nice to say thank you.
"The children clearly look up to the support staff.
"The school couldn't function without them.
"It was loverly to see the effort the children had gone to producing a thank you card for every member of staff."
