Thames Ditton’s post office is being moved despite more than 700 people signing a petition against it.
The branch, which has been in the newsagents in 42 High Street for decades, is being relocated to a mini-market, Simply Fresh, in 31 High Street.
The Post Office said the new location would have easy access for wheelchairs and longer opening hours, such as Saturday afternoons and Sundays.
However, during a public consultation this summer, issues were raised about parking provisions, privacy and staffing at the new premises.
Julia Marwood, regional network manager for the Post Office, said they carefully considered feedback from the public consultation.
She said: “We are confident that the new branch is suitably located and I’m delighted that this branch is part of the modernisation of our post office network.”
