It is the Government’s austerity programme that is forcing this Liberal Democrat council to make £40m cuts to Sutton’s services.
Instead of passing on cuts to us, the council should be fighting to get more cash to pay for all the services that it has provided in the past.
The council’s reasoning for the charging of the green waste collection is deeply flawed.
It would mean that as I do not use a care home, I should be able to opt out contributing through my council tax.
The same goes for education and any other services that I do not use.
However, I believe in a society in which we all contribute to the health, education, libraries and all the necessary services for the wellbeing of all our people.
