Youngsters got back to nature with a shelter-building session on Wimbledon Common.
The 23 children and their parents who took part in the Wimbledon Common Nature Club’s shelter building event collected logs, branches and ferns to make the structure under an old oak tree.
The shelter was tested by participants to make sure it was fit for purpose and later dismantled.
The session on Sunday, September 7 was organised by the Wimbledon Common Nature Club and was supported by the London Wildlife Trust.
It was led by club leader Alison Pelikan.
Auriel Glanville, club leader, said: "The morning was a great success.
"The children thoroughly enjoyed searching out natural materials and good teamwork skills were in evidence as they put their excellent shelter together under Alison Pelikan's expert tuition."
The next session, entitled the Fungi Foray, will be on Sunday, October 5, where the team will go in search of mushrooms to observe.
Meet at the information centre in Wimbledon Common at 9.50am.
Suitable for children aged six to 14 years-old. Donations are welcome.
