Footballers perhaps a little past their prime enjoyed a slow-paced version of the beautiful game at a walking tournament in Walton.
Five teams were welcomed by Elmbridge mayor Councillor Barry Fairbank to the walking football tournament on Thursday, July 24.
The sport, aimed at over-55s, is played with a smaller ball and players are encouraged to walk by being penalised for jogging or running.
The tournament, at the Xcel Leisure Complex, saw a side from Wimbledon beat the Walton team 2-1 in a round robin style contest.
Surrey FA football development officer Paul Cudmore said: "This tournament just goes to show the appetite there is for walking football in Surrey - it’s the perfect game to help those with advancing years keep an active and social lifestyle, while the competitive element makes the games far from a walk in the park."
