A teenager who was stabbed multiple times in a fight in the early hours of this morning is in a life-threatening condition in hospital.
The 18-year-old was found in London Road, Thornton Heath, by police who had been called to a fight between a large group of men.
The victim had been stabbed multiple times in the back.
London Ambulance Service also attended and the man was taken to a south London hospital where his condition has been described as potentially life-threatening.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in nearby Colliers Water Lane on suspicion of GBH and he is currently in custody at a south London police station.
Police have launched an investigation following the incident at about 3.25am this morning.
A police spokesperson said enquiries are continuing, led by detectives from Croydon borough police, and officers retain an open mind regarding the motive for the incident at this time.
Road closures remain in place.
