A burglar raided a florist in the early hours of this morning - only to find police officers waiting for him when he left.
A 21-year-old was arrested after a council CCTV operator spotted him acting suspiciously by the business in London Road, Norbury, just after 3.30am.
The operator contacted police, who arrested the suspect as he left the shop.
Detective chief inspector Steve Baxter, of Croydon police's burglary squad, said: "This demonstrates the value of the CCTV coverage in Croydon in helping to tackle crime in the borough.
"Thanks to the quick-thinking actions of the Council CCTV operator, we were able to quickly deploy officers to the scene and have arrested a burglary suspect."
