A nature club helped youngsters make hairy hedgehogs at Donald Hope Library at the weekend.
Children and their families put compost into pairs of tights and then added grass seed and a pair of stick on eyes to complete the animals, which when kept watered should grow long grassy hair within two weeks.
Alison Pelikan and Auriel Glanville of the Wimbledon Common Nature Club hosted the event on Saturday, March 29.
Mrs Glanville, club leader, said: "We had an enjoyable morning making hairy hedgehogs and families were very interested in joining the Wimbledon Common Nature Club.
"Our thanks to Craig Benn who was so helpful."
The event was part of the Colliers Wood Arts Festival.
