Ducks living in the River Thames have been baffled by a car left abandoned in their habitat.

A black Ford Fiesta was spotted in the river, in Putney, by staff at the Duke's Head pub this morning.

It is thought the car was parked there while the tide was out but got caught as the water rose.

There are flood warnings along the embankment highlighting where the flood risk zones are.

Pub staff always display the high tide time and the number of metres the water will reach on their black boards - just to make sure their customers are not caught out.

It is not the first time a car has been caught out along the Embankment.

Vehicles are reportedly often trapped by the rising tide
