An association for young Muslims in Colliers Wood has raised more than £2,000 for an older people's charity.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) presented a cheque for £2,200 to the Asian Elderly group of Merton, alongside Merton councillor Laxmi Attawar, during a ceremony at Morden mosque on March 1.
The organisation was chosen as charity of the year by AMYA's Colliers Wood branch, which consists of 60 young members and lead by Sajid Zahid.
Over the past 25 years, AMYA UK has raised millions for good causes including Macmillan, Save The Children, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability and Barnado's, usually through its annual 10k challenge.
