The trend for all things Americana has descended on Putney.
London brewing chain Fuller’s has refurbished former pub the Whistle and Flute into a trendy US diner-style bar.
Visitors will find an industrial theme, with upcycled vintage lighting, rustic wooden tables and American street signs.
NYC-style burgers, hotdogs and pizza dominate the menu, though salad is available.
As usual it was the cocktails which caught my eye.
After a few minutes spent pondering the extensive list I went for my old favourite – a mojito, made up of Havana Club, lime, mint and apple juice.
It went down a treat, and at £5.95, it is hardly breaking the bank.
Some of the cocktails have been given a London twist, such as the Cockney Cosmo and the slightly repulsive sounding SW15 – a mix of Archers, Southern Comfort and London Pride.
I was not feeling adventurous to try it, but maybe next time.
There are also a variety of beers on tap including Fuller’s own Frontier lager.
Regular events include tasting Tuesdays in the cellar bar and happy hour 2-4-1 cocktails from 5pm to 8pm during the week.
