A former international cyclist and Kingston mayor brought along her own Olympic torch during a special ceremony commemorating the borough’s role in the 2012 Games.
Eileen Gray, 93, was joined at New Malden Library on Thursday by councillors and children from Christ Church New Malden Primary School, for the framing of the borough’s Olympic flag.
The Surbiton resident brought along the Olympic torch which she carried during London 2012 for children to have a feel.
The Maldens and Coombe neighbourhood had previously been given an official Olympic flag as part of the borough’s role as a host.
The flag was framed and put up inside the library in Kingston Road.
Eileen said: “It went extremely well. It was well organised. I will never get out of the Olympic spirit."
