Huge conifers were cleared from a road this morning after falling on an electrical substation during a freak storm on Saturday.
Clearance work began this morning at the top of Downs Road, near Epsom Downs Racecourse, after electrical engineers had made the scene safe.
On Monday an Epsom Council spokesman said they could not clear four fallen trees until UK Power Networks had completed their work.
A UK Power Networks spokesman said: "UK Power Networks’ engineers are working with the local authority to make safe a substation fence damaged by two trees felled in strong winds on Saturday.
"Once the council has removed the trees, the fence, in Downs Road, Epsom, will be replaced. The substation was undamaged and power supplies were unaffected."
