A 6ft wall fell on a schoolboy in Upper Norwood during yesterday's storm.

London Ambulance Service were called to Beauchamp Road at 4pm yesterday to reports of a wall having fallen on a person.

One ambulance crew was sent to the scene and staff treated a 13-year-old boy.

A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "He was concious but suffered some injuries to his pelvis.

"He was treated and stabilised at the scene before being taken as a priority to St George's Hospital in Tooting."

By 4.30pm Croydon Council contractors had been called to a number of tree-related incidents.

Contractors were called to Spurgeon Road in Upper Norwood, Hayes Lane in Kenley, Firs Road in Kenley, Caterham Drive, Coulson, and Croham Road at the junction with Croham Valley Road in South Croydon, to deal with fallen trees blocking the road.

They were also called to Elmside in New Addington, where work was carried out to a dangerous tree and opposite Norman Avenue in West Croydon where work was carried out to a split tree.

Last night residents around the borough suffered power cuts. People living in South Croydon lost power at about 10pm, with Twitter user @AmboMagic tweeting: "five min powercut in South Croydon just now...trying to eat!"

Residents in New Addington and Selsdon were also hit with power cuts Kayleigh Tiernan tweeting: "Oh my god New Addington has a powercut," with many other residents taking to the New Addington Pathfinders Facebook group to discuss power cuts and share their storm experiences.

The bad weather caused problems for some residents. On Sunday evening a van was crushed by a huge tree in Canning Road, East Croydon.

The van which belongs to telecommunications company The Kelly Group, was parked in a driveway when the tree fell on Sunday afternoon.
