Croydon Champions mascot Hamish McFee has been named Caring Dog of The Year at the first ever RSPCA Animal Hero Awards.
Hamish, a Pets as Therapy Dog at Croydon University Hospital, attended the ceremony at the Langham Hotel in London last month with his owners Barry and Margaret Crossby.
The awards ceremony honoured and celebrated the most courageous and outstanding pets in the UK and Hamish received his award from Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding.
The West Highland Terrier, who won Croydon Champion's Community Champion Award in 2010, has been visiting patients at the Trust for the past 12 years on the elderly care wards at Croydon University Hospital.
In the past Hamish has won Pets as Therapy Dog of the Year at Crufts and a Trust long service award.
Michael Burden, Director of Human Resources & OD said: "Well done to Hamish, one of our valued volunteers. He brings a lot of joy and smiles to patients and staff at the hospital.
"On behalf of the Trust, I would like to thank his owners for their support and commitment in giving up their free time to bring him to the hospital."
