A flag flies at half mast at Epsom town hall
Flags are flying at half mast in Epsom today to mark the death of South Africa’s first black president Nelson Mandela.
Mr Mandela, who died yesterday at the age of 95, spent 27 years in prison, led his people to triumph over apartheid and became the most respected statesmen in the world.
An Epsom Council spokesman said: "In recognition of the world’s loss of a notable leader and inspiration to many, council flags have been lowered to half-mast today within the borough of Epsom and Ewell."
