Wimbledon's best bakers did battle this weekend in a men’s only bake off.

Twenty two bakers entered their wares into the competition which was judged on Saturday, November 30, at the Holy Trinity Church Christmas fair.

The competition was judged by Ollie Couillaud, head chef of The Lawn Bistro in Wimbledon village.

Simon Burder was crowned the winner for his layered Lemon Sponge taking home a £100 meal voucher for the Lawn Bistro restaurant.

Dan Jerrard came a close second with his frosty berry wreath.

A junior prize was awarded to 12 year old James Hawtin for his brownie honey comb Christmas tree.

Mr Couillaud said "The standard was extremely high this year and I was really impressed with some of the entries. "It was really hard to narrow it down but the lemon sponge was beautifully made and really delicious and definitely deserved to win the prize."

The fair raised more than £4,500 for the church.
