Cadets from 66 Selsdon Squadron Air Training Corps have had a busy few months collecting shoe boxes and goodies for parcels that will be sent to troops on in Afghanistan.

Civilian instructor Jessica Rick came up with the idea after meeting the local Support Our Soldiers co-ordinator, Sandra Davey earlier this year.

Cadets have filled 12 boxes that will be given to Support Our Soldiers, who will then arrange for them to be transported to Afghanistan in time for Christmas.

Goodies include sweets, biscuits and other snacks, as well as toiletries, puzzles and a festive favourite- Christmas pudding.

Cl Rick said: "I thought it would be a good idea as we are a military cadet organisation, to do it as a squadron.

"It reminds the cadets of the sacrifices those serving abroad make and it shows the troops that although they are far away, they are never far from our thoughts".
