A Royal Marine from Putney has arrived in the Phillipines to help people affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
Captain Charles Spencer, 27, works in HMS Daring's intelligence cell which powered her way to the far east last week.
The ship has almost 200 personnel onboard, all of whom are experts in their selected fields.
Capt Spencer, departed the UK onboard the Type 45 destroyer back in May on a global journey that now finds the ship coming to the aid of thousands of people displaced by disaster.
Typhoon Haiyan, which struck on November 8, is the second-deadliest Philippine typhoon on record, killing at least 3,976 people in that country alone.
According to UN officials, about 11 million people have been affected and many have been left homeless.
