Richmond Gymnastics Association head tumbling coach Kath Small added a world championship gold and bronze medal to her coaching CV.

Small coached Great Britain’s four man men’s tumbling squad to team bronze and an individual gold medal at the 29th World Trampoline and Tumbling Championshipd in Bulgaria last weekend.

Small, the first GB tumbler to win a world title in 1997, said: “It was such an amazing experience to be back on the floor of a senior world championships.

“It was a pleasure to be part of the team and to witness GB’s Kristof Willerton winning the senior men’s individual world title.”

RGA’s Abdullah Izziden, a 19-year-old student at St Mary’s University, was in the bronze medal winning team, having only started training at Richmond 18 month ago.

“I never dreamed 18 months ago that I could make the selection for the GB team. It’s a real tumbling high and inspires me to carry on and try even harder in the future,” he added.

GB finished second in the medals table behind China, with three golds, one silver and three bronze medals.
