A 15-year-old Wimbledon air cadet has won a Royal Air Force photographer of the year award.

Sean Paterson, a pupil from Wimbledon College won the cadet category of the RAF’s photographic competition.

His shot of the Red Arrows was taken at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in July.

Sean has been an air cadet at the Wimbledon 18F ATC Squadron for two years and travelled to London on October 22 to receive his award from the Air Chief Marshall; Sir Andrew Pulford.

His mother Coleen Paterson was extremely proud and said: "Receiving his award from the Air Chief Marshall made it very special."

Air Chief Marshall added: "The competition entries this year are once again of the highest quality and showcase not only the abilities of our Royal Air Force photographers but also the tremendous span of operations our people and equipment conduct."
