Leatherhead captain Dave Stevens has admitted to being frustrated with his recent form but vows to get back on the goalscoring track.

Stevens has notched just two league goals since the agonising FA Cup defeat to Torquay United last month, corresponding with a slump that has seen the Tanners pick up just four points from a possible 18 since the defeat at Plainmoor.

Stevens said: "I've been a bit disappointed with the way I have been playing in recent weeks and I've not been scoring as many goals as I would have liked to.

"But I just have to keep my head down, work hard and hopefully the goals will start flowing again. I'm captain and it's important for me to keep going."

Despite Julian Thompson's opener, Leatherhead went down 2-1 at Godalming Town on Saturday - their fifth defeat in seven league games.

But Stevens is pinning his hopes on the fact the Tanners have four games in hand over a number of teams in Ryman Division One South.

"What we always aim for at the beginning of the season is to make the play offs and, if we can put some good results together, we still have a chance of being in the shake up at the end of the season.

"I don't think the FA Cup defeat has got anything to do with our recent run of form. We went as far as we could in the cup and we've gone through a bit of a blip.

"It's hard to put our finger on why - but we certainly don't have our minds on the cup game."

Stevens says his side must now pick themselves up and return to winning ways against lowly Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

"We always find it difficult to get a result against Casuals but we will go into the match expecting to get a result."
