I would like to thank the people of Croydon for their tremendous generosity and unstinting support of the Royal Marsden Hospital.

Last weekend we held a collection and stall in the Whitgift Centre. This raised a staggering £4,086 for the hospital, for which we are extremely grateful.

Croydon's residents not only bought our merchandise and filled our collection buckets - but spoke to us of their own personal experiences with the Royal Marsden.

They were entertained by saxophone player Richard Sutton in the morning and by the wonderful singing of children from the New Life Christian School in the afternoon.

The Royal Marsden Hospital was the first in the world to be dedicated to cancer treatment and research and more than 40,000 patients are seen at its Sutton and Chelsea sites each year.

The money raised by Croydon residents will ensure we stay at the forefront of cancer research and continue to offer the finest care available.
