Faulty train signals in New Malden are causing serious delays for commuters this morning.
Hundreds of people were stuck on platforms at Surbiton station, with passengers venting their anger at South West Trains on Twitter.
Louisa Harris asked the operator: “why are half empty trains going through surbiton without stopping when there are hundreds of people on plat 1”.
Simon Furlong said: "What's happening on the chessington branch? Any ideas when the next train will run?"
And @1aeselbooze asked: "trains are just whizzing past Surbiton em route to Waterloo half empty. Really doing all you can??"
South West Trains said in an alert: “Following a fault with the signalling equipment at New Malden we are now able to run trains between Surbiton and Wimbledon again.
“There will still be significant alterations to the train service while we work to bring as many trains as possible into London Waterloo.
“Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised at short notice.
“Disruption is expected until 11am.”
The problem was caused by power supplies to signal boxes, the operator said.
