A council-backed scheme is promising to help residents find cheaper deals for their gas and electric.
Residents have until November 19 to register for Merton Council’s latest Big London Energy Switch auction which will see larger groups of residents looking to switch tackle rising costs of energy head on.
The scheme helps people find cheaper options by collectively negotiating a better deal with energy providers working on the ethos that the more people signed up and willing to switch the greater their bargaining power to negotiate with energy firms will be.
Residents in Merton who previously signed up in April and June have saved £130 each per year, on average.
It is up to residents to choose whether to switch or not when they receive their offer.
Councillor Andrew Judge, the council's cabinet member for environmental sustainability and regeneration, said: "This scheme is a great way to help our residents keep their homes warm at a lower price when energy bills are on the rise, particularly coming into the winter months.
"I would encourage everyone to sign up and see what savings you could make."
