Warlingham are taking their expertise into schools after employing a new rugby community coach.

Harry Blain, a 17-year-old former Cumnor House School student, has joined the club under an apprenticeship scheme supported by the Rugby Football Union and Worthing College.

It will see him visit schools in the region to coach rugby to pupils – with Warlingham the first club in the area to sign up to the project.

“I’m very excited about joining Warlingham as this is a great opportunity for me to progress in sport,” said Blain.

“I enjoy all sports, but especially rugby and have already coached younger pupils at Cumnor House.”

“This is a new venture for the club and we’re delighted to have Harry on board,” added Warlingham chairman Peter Wrightson.

“With rugby seven-a-side for both men and women being included in the 2016 Olympics, we are sure that our sport will grow enormously and we want to be at the forefront with schools in exposing them to a new Olympic event.”

Warlingham’s first team meanwhile made it back-to-back wins in London Two South East on Saturday with a 20-15 win over Tunbridge Wells.

Joe McEvoy scored 15 points and Zac King a try but they face a difficult task to keep their winning run going at home to unbeaten leaders Deal & Betteshanger this Saturday.
