A man wielding a knife and hammer smashed up cars outside a job centre this morning.
Police were called to the scene at the Job Centre, at Streatham Station Approach, at about 11.30am after the man was seen attacking cars.
Witnesses said up to nine cars had been damaged and the man was also said to have threatened staff in the job centre.
Police said there had been have been no reported injuries and a man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
The cars attacked are said by witnesses to be owned by people who work inside the office.
One witness described how a man went to the Job Centre to make a claim but was told to leave. He later returned with a bag containing a knife and a hammer.
The Job Centre has been closed for the rest of today.
