More than 50 business owners in Elmbridge celebrated the 100th grant handed out as part of the Elmbridge Civic Improvement Fund (ECIF).
ECIF was set up by Elmbridge Council in 2009 to enhance the borough during the recession by making improvements including works on shop fronts, creating marketing initiatives to attract the public to services and improving street scene.
The celebratory event, held at the Medicine Garden, Cobham, on September 2, allowed people to find out more about the grant, hear success stories and get guidance on the applications.
Leader of the council Councillor John O’Reilly said: “This event gave us an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of our initiative and answer any questions in a friendly face to face setting.
“I would like to thank all the business owners for taking the time to join us on such a beautiful September evening.
“We are committed to continue supporting our local economy, and would encourage any local businesses in Elmbridge to apply for funding through this scheme.”
Applications for the fund are assessed individually and grants are available for up to 90 per cent of the projects costs.
