A flock of chickens have been massacred and mutilated in a "sickening" incident.
The attack took place between 9am and 2.30pm, last Thursday, August 29, at a private address on Dorking Road, Leatherhead, after entry was gained into a chicken shed.
A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said it is believed that the chickens were killed there and their remains then dumped at a nearby public area.
The killing comes after 50 doves were shot dead with an air rifle, in Bookham, two weeks ago.
Surrey Police said they are considering what action to take for the offence against three child suspects and an adult who allowed the boys to use the weapon.
Of the latest massacre, Detective Constable Errol Chetty said: "This sickening incident has been particular distressing for the owner of the chickens as well as very upsetting to local residents who witnessed the aftermath.
"We do not believe that this case is linked to the recent incident where a number of pet doves were shot dead at a farm in Bookham.
"I would like to reassure the local community that active enquiries are underway to identify those responsible."
Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference MV/13/3378, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
