Leading up to Remembrance Sunday, members of the Royal Air Force Association of Morden were in Sutton selling poppies for the British Legion.
We have a team of four stalwarts who do most of the work but other members also help when they can.
During this time the amount raised is between £8,000-£9,000 - we do not have a final figure yet. Considering that most of our members are over 80 years of age, we feel we did a good job.
Also it was gratifying that so many said how good it was to find poppy sellers as we are not allowed to stand in the street now because of the danger of the collecting tins being stolen.
We therefore would like to express our thanks to the managements of St Nicholas Centre and ASDA for allowing us to put our stand up on their premises and for the help given to us.
We hope that anybody who contributed to the sum collected will be able to read this in your newspaper.
