I am writing to inform fellow readers of the situation in Durnsford Road, Wimbledon Park, which has become unbearable.

I live close by the Mosque and some months back, a speed ramp was installed. The volume of traffic has always been pretty bad and you could feel the vibrations as a truck hurtled past.

Now that the ramp is there, my entire building rattles. It feels like an earth tremor each time.

How to visualise it? Sit here and have a cup of tea and then watch how the cup rattles when an articulated lorry passes by. It's akin to the scene in Jurassic Park when the T-Rex approaches.

I am quite worried about the impact this is having on the building and its foundations. Surely, this cannot be healthy for the building to endure this occurrence every five minutes? I'm sure I'm not the only person in the area who has experienced this problem.

Recently, I noticed some road works by the ramp and I was momentarily elated, believing that something was being done to improve the situation. Unfortunately, the workers removed the traffic lights which hasn't helped one bit.

I have contacted Merton Council but forgive me for not having much faith in an immediate solution. I am curious to know how many other Durnsford Road residents are experiencing this almost thermobaric rumbling.

I was in Japan recently - buildings there, as you know, are designed to withstand earth tremors but I fear this is not the case in Durnsford Road.
