It is very sad that some of the youths of today – whether they be black or white – are caught up within a pathetic knife and gun culture that exists.

They feel they have to carry weapons for protection. Protection against who? They form a very small part of society. I, and I am sure the majority of people, believe this minority feel they want protection against themselves as there is a problem within themselves.

The majority of society is not afraid of the gangs this minority are in. In fact, they pity them for the way they are wasting their lives being in the violent gang culture. The majority hope to go about their normal lives, wanting to live a life without worry and with freedom to live it with consideration and tolerance towards others. The affected minority must always live a tense life and always feel alienated from society which could be beneficial to them.

It appears those caught up in the knife and gun culture have a very low esteem about themselves brought about, possibly, by the feeling of not positively belonging anywhere. This could be caused by the lack of a loving family environment or they could be feeling inferior to others. The most important thing in life is to have a good attitude towards oneself and want to be a person one would really want to know.

Wake up those caught up in this vicious culture! You are an insult to yourselves by being as you are! Life has a lot to offer! Grasp the potential joy of it! If you have problems which may seem insurmountable, there must be somewhere you can get positive advice from. You should never feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek advice to help you improve your quality of life.
