The owners of Battersea Power Station have canned plans to build a new events venue on the site.

It follows complaints from neighbours following the Holi One Colour Festival, attended by 15,000 revellers earlier this month.

The building, named The Power House, was set to replace the existing Boiler House venue which is situated in the centre of the Power Station.

Events held at the site include the Grey Goose ball in aid of the Elton John AIDS foundation, the MoonWalk London’s annual event and Relentless Freeze Festival.

Plans are now in place to offer small events in temporary venues on the riverside Pop Up Park instead of large-scale events.

A spokesman for Battersea Power Station said: "We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to hold events, launches and celebrations at the iconic Power Station, but we are clear that this must only ever happen in a way which poses least inconvenience to our neighbours.

"Following a recent event held at the venue, which was hosted by a third party, it became clear that some of the high standards and levels of consideration we expect of our clients were not being upheld.

"By moving to smaller, bespoke events we are confident we can continue to find new and imaginative ways of bringing people into contact with the Power Station in a way with which our neighbours can feel comfortable and hopefully in which they can take part."
