Businesses across the borough are invited to join Elmbridge Council to celebrate the allocation of the 100th grant under its Civic Improvement Fund.

Set up in 2009, the Elmbridge Civic Improvement Fund aims to enhance, improve and regenerate the borough during the time of economic recession.

Projects which benefit the economy by attracting people to businesses within Elmbridge are eligible for the fund and could include improvements to shop fronts or street scene, changing the use and appearance of empty shops and initiatives promoting community involvement in projects.

Grants are available for up to 90 per cent of a projects cost and each application is assessed individually.

Councillor John O’Reilly, leader of the council, said: “Elmbridge Council is committed to sustaining a vital and vibrant local economy, supporting local businesses and encouraging training and employment opportunities for our residents. We hope that local businesses will join us to celebrate the scheme.”

Businesses wishing to attend the celebration at the Medicine Garden, Cobham, on Monday, September 2, must register their attendance.

The event will allow businesses to find out more about the fund and hear success stories and guidance on the application process.
