Ian Holloway has been charged over comments he made to media after Crystal Palace's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Eagles manager was furious with referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants after Spurs were awarded a penalty in the second half for Dean Moxey's handball from Aaron Lennon's cross.

Holloway was angry about both the penalty decision and the decision a minute earlier not to award Palace a free kick for Nacer Chadli's barge on Stephen Dobbie.

He has also been charged for his conduct outside the officials' changing room as he waited for 38 minutes to confront them.

A statement from the FA said: "Following his side’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 18 August 2013, Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has been charged by The FA in relation to two separate matters.

"Firstly, it is alleged that Holloway’s language and/or behaviour in or around the match officials' changing room at the end of the game amounted to improper conduct.

"Secondly, it is alleged that Holloway’s post-match media comments questioned the integrity of the referee and/or match officials and/or implied that the referee and/or match officials were motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute."

Holloway has until 4pm on Friday to respond to both charges.
